Not going to be easy for Real Madrid against Bayern Munich: Former Indian footballer Robin Singh on upcoming UCL semi-final clashes

We had the opportunity to speak with former Indian football star Robin Singh and ask him questions about Champions League results this season for Sony. Look below for the questions we posed to the former Indian players.

1. Bayern have endured a poor season, but in the Champions League, they have done pretty well. Do you think they will be able to give Real Madrid a tough fight?

I think this is the only chance for Bayern to win the silverware, and credit goes to Bayer Leverkusen, who dethroned Bayern from the title race. But at some point, they have always been bad where they should have won instead of losing points.

Despite all of that, this is the Champions League, which brings out the best in you because they have Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala, and Thomas Muller. So it’s not going to be easy for Madrid, while for Bayern, this is the only chance to win silverware.

2. Do you think Harry Kane will be able to end his trophy curse?

I hope so because of the numbers he has created in the Bundesliga and the numbers he has created for Bayern this season. He joined from the Spurs, and he is individually excellent.

Bayern aren’t in a good place, but tactically, they are a very sound club with Joshua Kimmich playing on the right wing, and they have Alphonso Davies; he is one of the best left-backs for me. With these players this season injured, it’s not going to be easy, but I hope he doesn’t end his trophy journey and maybe win the Bundesliga next season.

3. If Mbappe leads PSG to a Champions League win, do you think he will again change his mind to remain at the French club because, in the past, he has done so many times?

I don’t think he will do that again this time. You know we speak of the likes of Mbappe being compared to Erling Haaland. Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior also have to prove a point and show respect to French people. Ligue 1 isn’t one of the top leagues in the world, so it’s time for him to move to top leagues such as the Premier League or LaLiga to compete with other star players.

But right now his main aim will be to reach the final, and there, when the whistle blows, anybody’s game, but after the end of the season, he will finally decide his future, given that he has been linked with a move to Real Madrid. But he will certainly have many suitors.

4. What’s your prediction for Borussia Dortmund vs. PSG for both legs?

I think PSG needs to handle the tie at home because it’s not going to be easy playing Dortmund away in front of the yellow wall. It’s never an easy situation, which is very intimidating to Dortmund fans, but it also depends on which Dortmund shows up because they have been unpredictable this season.

When we talk about Bayern Munich, who have been consistent, the same has to be said about Dortmund. They have lost points and drawn games; they should be winning, and they won games where you are questioning yourself about how they won them, so it’s going to be a very tight game.
