The midfielder’s return wasn’t confirmed by the City manager.
As Pep Guardiola considers his options, Manchester City are set to be without their star midfielder Rodri for the Premier League game against Everton.
Rodri was absent from the Cityzens’ Thursday training session due to an injury he sustained at Brentford. Although he hoped to be healthy for the Everton match, the Spanish midfielder’s hamstring issue forced him to be substituted at Brentford, and it is too early for him to play.
Rodri set to miss Everton game due to injury

Moreover, Guardiola gave a concerning injury update about the Spain international’s injury and revealed when he could be back:
“Rodri is not available this weekend against Everton. I don’t know when he will be back.”
City’s other injury updates
Due to his absence from training, Abdukodir Khusanov is also uncertain. Last month, he sustained an injury against Arsenal and is still working to regain full fitness.
After missing the start of the season due to Achilles surgery, Mateo Kovacic should be back in the team after missing the last three matchdays. Guardiola cautioned that his comeback would need to be gradual, considering he has yet to kick a ball for the Sky Blues this season.
Omar Marmoush and Rayan Ait-Nouri are also under suspicion. Both were scheduled for the Everton match, but neither featured for City since August due to their separate injuries.
Guardiola was unable to confirm that they will be prepared for the match against Everton, although they trained on Thursday and would hopefully be involved.
“They trained yesterday and they are much better,” he said. “They are close to coming back.”
How long will Rodri be out?
Guardiola didn’t reveal how long he will be out.
Who else is absent for the Everton game?
Abdukodir Khusanov is unavailable for the game.
Where do City stand in the Premier League?
They are fifth in the league.
