Saudi Pro League open talks with Lionel Messi's entourage over potential move: Report

Over the months, Lionel Messi’s future at Inter Miami has been making rounds as the forward is yet to start talks with the club regarding the renewal of his contract, which is set to expire at the end of this year.

As his future remains up in the air at Miami, this opens the door for the Saudi Pro League clubs to lure him to the Middle East.

ESPN says the league has even started talks with Messi’s team ahead of the summer transfer window. They want to sign the former Barcelona star.

Jorge Mas, co-owner of the Herons, has said in many interviews that Messi will renew his deal with Miami soon. Yet, in early May, Lionel Messi gave a vague answer when asked about his contract talks. This raised doubts about his future at the club since his contract ends after this season.

It seems unlikely that Lionel Messi will return to Europe as Barcelona are still recovering from their financial situation. Even if they consider signing their former star, they will have to generate a huge chunk of money to bring Messi for the last dance at the club.

This gives Saudi clubs a big chance to sign him with huge wages. Before, they tried to lure him with huge salaries, but Messi picked Inter Miami instead. He has spent two seasons in MLS and has helped his team win the Supporters’ Shield and League Cup.

Recent reports say he might leave the club before his contract ends. The Argentine will focus on leading the Herons in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 this year.

Miami started the season well but faced a dip in form. Now, they have regrouped and moved up from sixth to third in the MLS Eastern Conference standings.

This season, Lionel Messi has continued to shine for his side as he has 10 goals and five assists in 13 MLS matches.
