Scotland vs Brazil: All-time head-to-head record ahead of FIFA World Cup 2026

Brazil eyes maintaining their unbeaten streak against Scotland as these two sides meet for fifth time in World Cup history?

Miami Stadium (Hard Rock Stadium) in Miami Gardens, Florida, United States of America, gears up to host the final matchweek fixtures in Group C of the FIFA World Cup 2026, where the most successful side in the FIFA World Cup Brazil takes on Scotland in a thrilling contest.

Scotland clinched a 1-0 win over Haiti in the opening game and are coming after a defeat to the Atlas Lions in the last game. This is a must-win game for them to make history and advance past the group stages for the first time in FIFA World Cup history.

A win would be enough for Brazil to finish in the top two. They are also ahead of Morocco in the goal difference, but the Atlas Lions face a relatively easy opponent, and Brazil must strive for a big win against Scotland to finish atop the points table. They are led by the legendary Carlo Ancelotti.

Group C is in a very interesting scenario. Haiti are already been eliminated after defeats to Scotland and Brazil. Scotland are placed third with three points. Brazil and Morocco are at the top with three points. If both teams win, it all boils down to goal difference, and Brazil are ahead, but they must win the next game to finish as the group toppers.

In this article, we take a ride down memory lane to find out who has the upper hand against whom. As the two teams prepare to rewrite history, we find out what happened when these two sides last met each other and who scored and impressed more in this fixture.

These two sides have shockingly met ten times previously and Scotland are yet to beat Brazil in any of the last ten games. What’s even more interesting is that these sides have previously locked horns with each other four times in World Cup history.

In the FIFA World Cup history, Brazil met Scotland four times previously and Brazil won three of them. In the 1974 World Cup, the game ended in a goalless draw. In the 1982 FIFA World Cup, Brazil defeated Scotland 4-1 and and the winning streak continued even in 1990 and 1998.

Shockingly, the most successful side in FIFA World Cup history however never won the World Cup in any of those edition when Scotland were drawn alongside them. In the 2002 World Cup, they went on to reach the finals but succumbed a defeat to France.

Neymar and Zico are the leading goal scorers in the fixtures with two goals each. Brazil have amassed a total of 16 goals across 10 games, whereas Scotland have barely scored just three goals.
