The Tartan Army will play in their ninth World Cup.
This summer, Scotland will make their ninth World Cup appearance. In an odd turn of events, their return puts them in a group with Brazil and Morocco. These are the same footballing nations that sent the Scots to a dismal group-stage finish in their previous tournament campaign in 1998.
After overseeing consecutive 1-0 friendly losses to Japan and the Ivory Coast in March, head coach Steve Clarke signed a four-year contract extension at the end of last month.
However, during the past two weeks, the Scots have reacted with two comfortable victories against Curacao and Bolivia.
After losing at the group stage in all 12 of its prior World Cup (eight) and European Championship (four) outings, the Tartan Army are keen to finally break their infamous curse. They will look to advance to the knockout stages of a major event at the thirteenth attempt.

Scotland team news vs Haiti?

Important midfielder Scott McTominay participated in training on Friday after missing the previous day’s practice due to a stomach ailment. Meanwhile, Billy Gilmour (knee) is ruled out of the World Cup owing to injury. Defender Scott McKenna (knock), however, was not present and is still doubtful.
While Lewis Ferguson, Kenny McLean, Ryan Christie, and Man United youth Tyler Fletcher compete for a spot in centre-midfield, McTominay should be ready to start. Meanwhile, Europa League champion John McGinn is probably going to play out on the left wing in a 4-4-2 formation.
Lawrence Shankland, a new Rangers signing, is expected to be rewarded with a start up front, possibly alongside Che Adams. This comes after helping Scotland score four of their eight goals in warm-up victories over Bolivia and Curacao (three goals, one assist).
In the meantime, Clarke will decide whether to start 43-year-old Craig Gordon, the oldest player at the 2026 World Cup, or Angus Gunn in goal. Gordon is more likely to get the gloves.
