To “compensate” for a subpar domestic season that has seen Bayern lose the Bundesliga crown for the very first time since 2012, Thomas Tuchel claims he wants to get to the Champions League final.

Although he had doubts about the health of several players, including Dayot Upamecano, Jamal Musiala, Konrad Laimer, Matthijs de Ligt, Leroy Sané, and Jamal Laimer, the German coach felt sufficiently secure to make a big forecast regarding Serge Gnabry during his pre-game press conference.

In the quarterfinal matchup with Arsenal, Gnabry scored a goal, and Bayern won 3-2 overall to advance to the round of four where they will play Real Madrid.

“Serge Gnabry is going to score,” he said. “It’s going to happen. I don’t know where it’s come from, but it’s going to happen.”

“I’m putting my headphones on noise-cancelling and ignoring it. The topic won’t help me tomorrow or on Tuesday – and it’s not my topic anyway.

“The next 11 days cannot be about anything other than football.”

The team led by 14-time champion Carlo Ancelotti will begin as the favourite, but Tuchel thinks his players may feel they can make it to the Wembley final after their two matches against Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Prior to sustaining a muscular injury on April 9, Gnabry scored in Bayern’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the first leg of the quarterfinals. Tuchel stated he would be back the following week, but he did not say if he would start.

Due to a pubic bone injury, former Manchester City forward Sane is less probable to play; Tuchel says Bayern must “take it day by day.”

Regarding the remainder of the match, Tuchel was anxious to stress striking a balance between tactical discipline and creative freedom. He also mentioned that the Los Blancos’ two most important players are Vinicius Junior and Toni Kroos, emphasising the need for the same harmony among attack and defence.

Real Madrid is without Thibaut Courtois, David Alaba, and Dani Carvajal due to suspension; however, Bayern is also concerned about the health of three important players who are not playing.
