The youngster could be signed as Casemiro’s replacement for next season

Joao Neves, Benfica wonderkid, is rumoured to be the subject of an unbelievable £100 million offer from Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Neves has been strongly connected to United in recent months, and with each game he plays for Benfica, the public’s interest in him seems to be growing.

Throughout the summer transfer window, the Red Devils may look to bolster their midfield. It would be highly likely that the Portuguese would take Casemiro’s place if he were to depart.

The Saudi Pro League is making advances for him, and INEOS is keen to remove his substantial salary from the team’s books.Even if he is still connected to the Red Devils, the talented Neves was questioned about his prospects last month. He declined to give Benfica a long-term commitment to his services. The Sunday Mirror claims that Ratcliffe is eager to finalise a deal for the Portuguese international and needs Neves at Old Trafford.

It’s believed that the billionaire, who was born in Oldham, is prepared to accept a record-breaking bid of little more than £100 million to guarantee that Neves will wear the United jersey for the upcoming campaign.Fabrizio Romano clarified a few days ago that while Manchester City under Pep Guardiola is likewise a fan of the 19-year-old, there is still competition to sign him.The Italian transfer expert went on to say that Benfica will not back down from triggering his €120 million [£103 million] release clause. United has dispatched scouts to keep a close eye on Neves on several occasions. The Liga NOS giants, who are not facing any obligation to sell, are willing to accept nothing less than such a sum.
