South Africa announce squad for AFCON 2025

The Bafana Bafana will play Angola in the opening AFCON 2025 game.
Hugo Broos, the head coach of South Africa, recently revealed his team for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place in Morocco.
In his decision, Hugo Broos chose nine Orlando Pirates players, five from Mamelodi Sundowns, while significantly, no Kaizer Chiefs stars made the 25-man roster.
The squad also boasts two players from the U20 national team that earned the African title this spring: Tylon Smith and Shandre Campbell. Former Monaco player Lyle Foster, currently at Burnley, is one of the few internationals included.
Keeping that in consideration, the selection of Campbell in his 25-man squad might have been seen as a turnaround – although it may largely have been influenced by Zwane’s recurrent injury difficulties.
South Africa are in Group B for the competition in Morocco (Dec. 21 – Jan. 18) – alongside Egypt and nearby countries Angola and Zimbabwe.
On December 22, they will play Angola in Marrakesh. On Boxing Day, they will go to Agadir to play Egypt. On December 29, they will play their final group stage match in Marrakech against Zimbabwe.
