Spain vs England combined XI | Euro 2024 final
These two nations are set to face-off in the Euro 2024 final.
The 2024 European Championship is all set for its last showdown, as the stage is ready for the final in Berlin this Sunday. Spain and England will take on each other in a game that promises to be full of drama and high-end action, which at the end of its span will render the new champions of Europe.
Spain have been quite simply perfect so far in the tournament. The young blood has been La Roja’s key to success so far in the tournament. Players like Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams have continuously made headlines for them. Spain’s impeccable attack is undoubtedly a force that no team has managed to overcome so far.
England, on the other hand, have had their fair share of struggles at the Euros so far and have been far from their best. The Three Lions have somehow managed to make it to the final. They will need to bring their A-game on Sunday, if they don’t want to repeat the same mistakes, they made three years ago when they were beaten by Italy.
Having said that, let us take a look at the best combined XI of the two nations:
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Goalkeeper: Jordan Pickford (England)
Jordan Pickford has been in pretty good form for England throughout Euro 2024. The veteran keeper has been one of the biggest reasons why England have been so sturdy at the back throughout the tournament.
Pickford’s experience and the ability to turn up at big moments will surely come in handy for the Three Lions on Sunday, when they take on their biggest challenge in the competition.
Right-Back: Dani Carvajal (Spain)
Dani Carvajal’s impressive season for both club and country continues, as the Real Madrid defender is to play in another major final. He has the chance to win three titles this season.
Carvajal’s pace, agility and vast experience make his presence all the more important for Spain’s quest to win the Euros after 12 long years. The right-back will have the task of taking on the likes of Phil Foden, Luke Shaw and others.
Centre-Back: John Stones (England)
John Stones has started in every game for Gareth Southgate’s team at the Euros so far and has been a key cog in their campaign. The Manchester City defender is one of the best in the world when it comes to off-the-ball movement and getting in the right places.
Stones’ ability to play inch-perfect long balls might also allow England to put up a different attacking approach and try to assert aerial dominance.
Centre-Back: Aymeric Laporte (Spain)
Aymeric Laporte has had a stellar Euro campaign and has certainly redeemed himself over the course of the last month. Playing his club football in Saudi Arabia, many expected the centre-back to get slightly rusty and be on the sidelines, but Laporte has defied all odds and has played a pivotal role in Spain’s success.
Laporte’s dominance in the air will be a key factor for La Roja, as they are aware of the aerial threat that England pose.

Left-Back: Marc Cucurella (Spain)
Marc Cucurella is another one of those players, who has redeemed himself at this Euro 2024 tournament. After an underwhelming season with Chelsea, Cucurella was doubted by many ahead of the event in Germany.
Cucurella has played in all of Spain’s games so far and has been one of the highest-rated players at the Euros. With a ball recovery rate of 4.2 and more than six duels won per game, Cucurella has played a pivotal role in every game.
Central Midfielder: Rodri (Spain)
Rodri has been the rock behind Spain’s sparkling Euro campaign so far. Be it in the defensive half or the offensive, Rodri is everywhere on the field and plays at his absolute best throughout the game.
The City star has 13 tackles and 10 interceptions at the Euros so far and has averaged a staggering 7.6 ball recovery rate.
Central Midfielder: Declan Rice (England)
After Rodri, if there is a more talented defensive midfielder in the world at the moment, it has to be Declan Rice. The Arsenal player has quite a number of attributes under his belt, including excellent passing ability, strong defensive skills, good positioning and leadership qualities.
Rice’s all-round contribution in the midfield will be decisive for England to break past this rigid Spanish side led by Luis de la Fuente.

Right-Winger: Lamine Yamal (Spain)
Decades from now, when someone recalls Euro 2024, they will certainly recall the name Lamine Yamal. The 16-year-old has done something that the world of football has never seen and has been dropping incredible performances every game.
Yamal’s recent banger against France in the semi-finals made him the youngest goalscorer in Euro history. The new wonderkid of world football will certainly have something special to grace the occasion of the final.
Central Attacking Midfielder: Dani Olmo (Spain)
With three goals and two assists at Euro 2024, Dani Olmo has been the talk of the town. Having started the tournament as a backup option in the midfield, Olmo pounced upon the opportunity he got after Pedri’s injury and has been arguably the most impressive player at the tournament.
Olmo has now scored in three back-to-back games in the knockout rounds and seems to be unplayable at the moment.
Left Winger: Nico Williams (Spain)
Nico Williams has been one of the most joyful players to watch at the Euros so far. The winger has the attributes of the old-era wingers, who had impeccable pace and impressive skills.
Williams has started in every game for La Roja and even scored a goal in the Round of 16. His connection with Yamal makes the two a deadly duo on the wings.
Striker: Alvaro Morata (Spain)
Whilst some might argue that his numbers haven’t been good so far at Euro 2024, Alvaro Morata is still a key cog in this Spanish side and there is a big reason as to why manager Luis de la Fuente is so fond of the attacker. Morata gives his absolute best through the game and is one of the most hard-working players.
Morata’s ability to make other players around him shine is something that makes him a true captain of this Spanish side and he’s one of the biggest reasons behind Spain’s free-flowing football at this tournament.
