Spain vs Italy Predicted lineup, betting tips, odds, injury news, H2H, telecast | UEFA Euro 2024
The three-time Euro winners take on defending champions.
With the first round of group stage fixtures done and dusted, the focus now shifts to matchday 2 of the ongoing European championship. One of the highlights of this week will be the clash between defending European champions Italy and a highly flying Spain at the Veltins-Arena.
Spain pulled off a dominating 3-0 win over Croatia in their tournament opener with captain Alvaro Morata, Fabian Ruiz and Daniel Carvajal finding the back of the net. It was a statement win by La Roja who have made their intentions very clear coming into the tournament.
The Gli Azzurri on the other hand fought back from behind to record a 2-1 win despite going down in the very first minute to secure all three points against Albania in their curtain raiser. Spain have not had it easy in their previous fixtures against Italy and it remains to be seen if they can change things around or will Italy continue to dominate.

Players to watch
Lamine Yamal (Spain)
The Barcelona wonderkid showed the world that he can do what he does best even on the international stage. He was a livewire throughout the match and kept on causing problems for Croatia from the right flank. Yamal’s pace coupled with his trickery makes him a tough opposition for any team. He created a couple of big chances for Spain, including a spectacular assist for Dani Carvajal in the first half.
Nicolo Barella (Italy)
Nicolo Barella was Italy’s best man on the pitch in their comeback win over Albania last week. The Inter Milan midfielder scored a wonderful goal from outside the box to secure the points for his side. He is known for his playmaking, high pressing and pinpoint passing accuracy. Barella completed the majority of his passes against the opposition while making crucial ball recoveries.
