These Spanish players gave their all for the colours of their country at Euro 2024.

With a historic run of six wins out of a possible six, Luis de la Fuente’s Spain is all set to face England in the Euro 2024 final at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

On their route to the final, La Roja finished the group stage phase as Group B table-toppers, defeating the likes of defending champions Italy, Croatia, and Albania in the process.

During the decisive knockout stages, Spain registered a convincing 4-1 comeback win against tournament newbie Georgia in the round of 16. This was followed by a thrilling 2-1 win against hosts Germany in extra time, courtesy of super sub Mikel Merino’s last-ditch winner, during an exhilarating quarterfinal clash. In the semifinal stage, Luis de la Fuente’s side toppled Didier Deschamps’ France to record a 2-1 comeback win courtesy of quick-fire goals from Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo to book their place in the final.

With all that said, here are the top three Spanish players who impressed at Euro 2024:

3. Nico Williams

One of the breakout stars of the tournament has undoubtedly been Nico Williams, whose blistering pace and dribbling skills have caused consistent problems for opposition defences, stretching the pitch and creating space for teammates, which has proven to be instrumental in Spain’s success this summer.

In the five games he has played, Williams has recorded valuable contributions of one goal and one assist with his overall playmaking skills and ability to draw fouls in dangerous areas, making La Roja a potent team in attack.

Nico Williams’ standout performance of the campaign came during Spain’s group stage win against Italy. He was unplayable and a living nightmare to cope with for the Gli Azzurri defensive backline, for which he was awarded the Man of the Match.

2. Fabian Ruiz

One of the most underrated performers of the tournament has undeniably been Fabian Ruiz, who has been a key figure in Spain’s midfield engine this summer. Despite not being the flashiest player on the pitch, Ruiz’s intelligent playmaking ability, coupled with his intricate dribbling skills in tight spaces, make him easily one of the best midfielders in Euro 2024.

The 28-year-old midfielder possesses elite composure on the ball, precise passing range, and elite vision through which he dictates the tempo of play and creates chances in attack with his exquisite line-breaking through balls.

With stellar contributions of two goals and two assists, Fabian Ruiz has showcased his all-round game, owing to which he has been able to contribute to every department, from defence to attack.

1. Lamine Yamal

A frontrunner for both the Player of the Tournament award and the Young Player of the Tournament is La Roja’s wonder boy Lamine Yamal, who has enjoyed a historic record-breaking campaign in Euro 2024.

In his first major international tournament, Yamal has been instrumental in Spain’s incredible success, playing in all the matches and registering impressive numbers of one goal and three assists.

Yamal’s maturity, composure, and ability to influence the game through his footballing brain have made him the difference-maker for his team on multiple occasions throughout the tournament. His wonder goal against France, coupled with his incredible overall performance in the semifinal fixture, rightfully earned him the Man of the Match award.

Through his stellar showings for Luis de la Fuente’s side this summer, Lamine Yamal has announced himself as a future star, breaking several records in the process: the youngest player to play in Euros, the youngest player to appear in the knockout stages of the Euros, the youngest player to appear in the semi-final of a major tournament, the youngest player to record three-plus assists at a major tournament, and the youngest player to score at the Euros.
