Copa America is on the horizon with teams finishing their final preparations before the tournament begins on Friday 20 June. Argentina will take on Canada in the opening match of the tournament as they start their title defence after winning the competition last time.

Uruguay along with Argentina are the joint holders of the most trophies in the Copa America competition (15). United States are the host country who will be aiming to see their team lift the trophy for the first time in their history. Lionel Messi, the world’s best player, will compete with some of the best strikers in the world such as Luis Suarez and Julian Alvarez.

Messi won the Golden Boot last year after scoring four goals and adding five assists. Fans are eager to watch their favourite players dominate the tournament with their goal-scoring prowess.

Let’s look at the top five strikers who could dominate in Copa America 2024:

The AS Monaco striker had an impressive season with the team as they finished in second place in Ligue 1. Folarin Balogun emerged as one of the most sought-after strikers in the league after enjoying a breakthrough campaign with Reims. He scored 22 goals in 39 matches.

This led Monaco to pay a huge sum to recruit him. His finishing and ability to convert 50-50 chances makes him a dangerous player who the USA will hope can provide goals for the team. Balogun national team goal tally includes three goals in 12 matches.

4. Santiago Gimenez

The Mexican forward plays for the Dutch club Feyenoord and has enjoyed a fantastic campaign. Santiago Gimenez finished the season as the top scorer with 26 goals in 41 matches. Gimenez will lead the team’s attack after a wonderful season. Mexico will hope he can provide goals for the team by displaying the same form that made him one of the emerging strikers in world football.
