Sweden squad for World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia & Kosovo; Alexander Isak included

Isak has been named in the squad despite not playing for the club.
Although he hasn’t featured for Newcastle United this season and is looking for a move away, Alexander Isak was picked by Sweden on Wednesday for the nation’s forthcoming World Cup qualifying matches.
Sweden coach Jon Dahl Tomasson selected the striker as one of 24 players for the team’s matches against Kosovo and Slovenia.
“I am very happy that Alexander Isak wants to be in the squad, he is a huge player,” Tomasson said. “The situation he is in is not perfect and he has not trained with the team.”
“But he is a player who can decide matches, and he wants to be part of our squad. The World Cup is important for Alexander Isak.”

One of the best strikers in the world, Isak, expressed his dissatisfaction with Newcastle on social media this week, claiming that the team had broken agreements to allow him to depart in the face of interest from Liverpool.
With all the recent fallout between the club and the player, most of the attention has been on Isak; hence, his call-up to the national team raises more questions about his relationship with the club.
Meanwhile, another big name in the squad is Viktor Gyokeres, who had to force Sporting CP to allow him to join Arsenal this summer. The striker has already recorded two goals in the Premier League.
Sweden, who are in group B, will begin their World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia on 5th September, followed by a match against Kosovo on 8th.
