Switzerland predicted lineup vs Canada for FIFA World Cup 2026

Switzerland will meet Canada on June 25.

Switzerland will enter their last Group B clash with Canada with the aim of advancing to the next round of the FIFA World Cup 2026. Murat Yakin’s side bounced back from their first home draw, a 1-1 draw against Qatar with an emphatic 4-1 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Swiss are in far better shape after two games, with four points in their squad’s bank. Canada, meanwhile, are still in contention with four points from their first two games, making this clash a possibly crucial one in Group B.

Switzerland will retain most of the players they used in their victory against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The experienced internationals should be expected to stick around as the team strives to maintain their unbeaten run in the tournament.

Who all will be expected to be in the starting lineup?

Gregor Kobel is likely to come on as Switzerland’s goalkeeper. Ricardo Rodríguez and Silvan Widmer will probably be the full-backs, while Manuel Akanji and Nico Elvedi will put in the bulk of the work in the middle of the defence.

The double pivot in midfield will see Remo Freuler and Granit Xhaka at work. It will be the responsibility of the pair to hold on to the ball and defend it.

Dan Ndoye will be in the No. 10 position, while Michel Aebischer will be in the left wing and Ruben Vargas on the right wing further forward. The three will back striker Breel Embolo, who is likely to be in the middle.

Rodríguez will lead the team, while Embolo will still be Switzerland’s foremost attacking option. Ndoye’s tempo and Vargas’ play will likely be a factor against Canada as well.
