Ten Hag future at United continues to be in the air

According to BILD reporter Christian Falk, Thomas Tuchel, the manager of Bayern Munich, may be drawn to Manchester United’s possible head coach position at Old Trafford.

As the 2023–24 season draws to a close, Erik ten Hag’s future is being scrutinised more closely. This is because last weekend, his team barely defeated Championship team Coventry City in the FA Cup semifinal.

Following INEOS’s recent minority buyout, which was spearheaded by chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the Red Devils may be entering a new chapter in their history prior to the summer transfer window of 2024. When Tuchel departs his current position at Bayern at the conclusion of the period, he will be willing to seek employment in the summer.

The current Manchester United season has generated a lot of discussion on Erik ten Hag’s future as head coach, as the team has not been able to capitalise on its third-place Premier League result and Carabao Cup victory from the previous season. In the last few weeks of the season, the Dutchman needs to win over INEOS chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe in order to maintain his position at Old Trafford.

Tuchel, meanwhile, loses his job at the culmination of the present campaign. Bayern had previously decided to part ways amicably with their head coach at the end of the 2024–2025 season, thus the German coach will be looking for other chances. Tuchel may be keen to be back into managing after being fired by Chelsea in September 2022.

The premier league’s top managers have already praised the current Bayern manager, with Manchester City’s head coach calling him “one of the best managers” in the world. According to BILD journalist Christian Falk, Tuchel is attracting interest from Manchester United, and the soon-to-be jobless coach is amenable to taking ten Hag’s place at Old Trafford. The journalist stated:

“Now @ManUtd also showed interest in Thomas Tuchel. Tuchel would be ready for a new Challenge in Summer and is very interested in Manchester United.”

After leading the Bavarian giants to their first Bundesliga title at the end of their first season under Tuchel’s leadership, Bayern lost the league crown to Bayer Leverkusen. Tuchel is going to want to establish himself as one of the best coaches on the continent once more.
