Tottenham Hotspur injury update ahead of Chelsea game; Timo Werner ruled out for remainder season

Spurs will miss Ben Davies and Timo Werner due to new injury
The news that Ben Davies and Timo Werner will be absent for the remainder of the season has struck a blow to Tottenham’s aspirations of finishing in the top four.
Both players sustained injuries during Sunday’s north London derby loss to Arsenal, which kept Werner from seeing his old team, Chelsea, at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night.
Tottenham has two games remaining under Unai Emery, with the trip to Chelsea being one of them. The team trails Aston Villa by seven points in the hunt for Champions League qualifying.
“Timo got a hamstring injury,” Postecoglou said.
“There’s two-and-a-half weeks left so he will miss the rest of the season and Ben Davies got a calf injury from the [Arsenal] game and he’ll miss the rest of the season as well.”
In the last week of the season, Spurs have to play both at home against Manchester City and away to Liverpool.
With Destiny Udogie out for the rest of the season, Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou was left short a designated left-back. Emerson Royal, a right-back, may be played on the opposing side. Postecoglou has stated that he must find a “solution” to the issue.

Werner spent two seasons with Chelsea on loan from RB Leipzig before leaving to return to Germany in January.
Since joining Spurs in January, Werner has made 14 appearances, scoring twice and dishing out three assists. Spurs have the chance to extend Werner’s loan into a permanent agreement.
An apparent muscular injury ended the 28-year-old’s run of five straight starts, and in the thirty-first minute, Brennan Johnson took his place.
Werner, who is now on loan from RB Leipzig, is clearly questionable for Thursday’s Premier League matchup against Chelsea, his old team.
But Postecoglou insisted: “Yeah, that’s stuff for another day. I have a game tomorrow.”
