Defeat could result in the end of the road for both teams.

The Al Medina Stadium in Rabat, Morocco, gears up to host the Matchweek 2 fixture of AFCON 2025 featuring 1978 African runners-up Uganda and Tanzania.

Uganda are coming after a 3-1 defeat to Tunisia in the opening matchweek. After conceding three goals, Omedi scored a consolation goal in the regulation time for Uganda. They are led by Belgian coach Paul Put, who has previously managed Burkina Faso, Congo and Jordan national teams.

Tanzania are also coming after a defeat to Nigeria in the opening matchweek. M’Mombwa scored the equaliser in the 50th minute, but the joy was short-lived after Lookman scored the winner in the 52nd minute. They are led by Argentine gaffer Miguel Gamondi.

Kick-off:

  • Location: Rabat, Morocco
  • Stadium: Al Medina Stadium
  • Date: Saturday, December 27
  • Kick-off Time: 11:00 p.m. IST
  • Referee: TBD
  • VAR: In use

Players to Watch

Khalid Aucho (Uganda)

The Uganda national team captain must step up and perform when his team needs him the most. Anything other than a win in the next game would see his team almost get eliminated from AFCON 2025. Khalid Aucho plays for Tanzanian top division club Singida Black Stars and will lock horns against familiar faces.

Novatus Miroshi (Tanzania)

The Tanzanian left back has played for Maccabi Tel-Aviv and Shakhtar Donetsk before making a move to Goztepe in 2024. It is a do-or-die fixture for Tanzania, and Miroshi would be keen to make those accelerated runs from the left flank to help Tanzania win the next game.

Match Facts

  • These two sides are meeting for the first time in AFCON history.
  • Simon Msuva from Tanzania is the leading goalscorer in this fixture.
