Marcus Rashford was forced off in a 2-2 draw with Liverpool
In spite of Marcus Rashford hobbling out of Sunday’s stalemate with Liverpool, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag doesn’t think the attacker will be out of the picture for too long.
After playing Chelsea in the middle of the week off the bench, Rashford was brought back into the starting lineup. However, he was only able to play against Liverpool for just more than an hour when Antony replaced him.
This season, United has lost several of its senior players to injuries; two defenders who are absent are Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans, who suffered problems at Stamford Bridge. Ten Hag isn’t going to want to be missing a first-team player for too long because there are important league and FA Cup games coming up.
‘I’m not sure, but I don’t think it will be long term,’ he said after the 2-2 draw. Injury also forced Scott McTominay out of the game at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The team of Ten Hag will play their subsequent league match on April 13 against Bournemouth, and the following weekend they will play Coventry City in the FA Cup semifinal. With seven games remaining, United is now ranked sixth in the Premier League, but Champions League qualifying might be beyond their grasp.

When the result tied at one, Rashford moved aside. Midway through the first half, Bruno Fernandes equalised for Liverpool with a long-range shot, but Luis Diaz gave Liverpool the lead shortly into the second half.Shortly after the attacking player was replaced, Kobbie Mainoo scored a stunning goal for United, the inaugural Old Trafford Premier League goal. Nevertheless, with six minutes remaining, Mohamed Salah scored a penalty kick, and they were unable to cling on for victory.
“Again, we give a certain win out of our hands by making, let’s say, not a very clever mistake there, like on Thursday and like last Saturday. And we lose seven points in one week, where we should have had nine points.
“That makes a huge difference. On the other side, I’m very proud of this team and we have young players coming in and then give this performance and can play on this level and it shows the future for Man United is very bright.”
