Christian Pulisic remains the crucial player for them in Copa America.

As the host nation, the USA start the tournament aiming to win their first-ever Copa America title. There will be significant pressure from fans who are eager to see their team perform on the big stage.

Berhalter’s side kick off their campaign against Bolivia in the opening match, hoping to make a winning start to the tournament. The USA find themselves in Group C alongside Bolivia, Panama, and Uruguay.

USA Predicted Lineup (Formation: 4-3-3)

GK: Matt Turner

Matt Turner had a fantastic game against Brazil in the last match, making numerous excellent saves to deny Brazil the lead after Pulisic scored the equalizer. However, he will be disappointed with the goal he conceded after playing a pass straight to a Brazilian player, which led to the only goal of the game. Nevertheless, he should be proud of his performance.

RB: Joseph Scally

The Borussia Mönchengladbach right-back put on an impressive performance against Brazil, defending excellently against Vinicius and Rodrygo, not giving them any chances. While fulfilling his defensive duties, he also advanced forward to join in attacks, linking up fantastically with Weah on the right-hand side. He remains the favorite to start in the right-back role in the upcoming matches.

CB: Chris Richards

Chris Richards had an incredible game at the back for the USA against Brazil, making several challenges to limit their scoring opportunities. One particular moment stood out when he made a last-ditch tackle to prevent a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper. Berhalter will be delighted with what he sees from his center-backs.

CB: Tim Ream

Probably the most experienced player in the national team, Tim Ream is in the latter stages of his career. He had a good match against Brazil, putting in a solid shift to prevent their players from scoring more goals. He is set to make his 59th appearance for the national team against Bolivia, continuing his excellent partnership with Richards in the heart of the defense.

LB: Antonee Robinson

After an excellent season with Fulham, Robinson is set to play a crucial role for the national team in the Copa America. He performed well against Brazil, frequently advancing to join in attacks while also disrupting the opponents’ rhythm. Robinson is not afraid to make challenges, and his tackles and interceptions often benefit the team.

CM: Weston McKennie

Weston McKennie is Berhalter’s go-to man, showing faith in him as a key player. McKennie created one chance in the game against Brazil while also winning five duels. He is crucial for the team’s chances in the tournament, with his ability to both defend and attack effectively making him an indispensable player.

CM: Tyler Adams

Tyler Adams played 14 minutes against Brazil, providing defensive solidity in the final minutes. He is probably the most defensive-minded of the midfield trio, allowing others to thrive by handling the defensive work. Adams has had a disappointing season, playing only four matches due to a serious injury. Nevertheless, he will aim to play a crucial role in the team going forward.

CM: Giovanni Reyna

If there is one player who has benefitted from Berhalter’s arrival, it is Reyna. He has thrived under Berhalter’s leadership, playing a significant role in the Concacaf Nations League. He scored a wonderful goal in the final against Mexico and continued his excellent form by providing two assists in the semi-final against Jamaica.

RW: Timothy Weah

Timothy Weah had a decent season at Juventus, scoring once and assisting twice in his first season. Weah had an excellent game against Brazil, hitting two shots on target and making the most interceptions in the game alongside Richards and Robinson. He provides a consistent threat in the final third.

ST: Folarin Balogun

Folarin Balogun had a good season at Monaco, finishing with eight goals and five assists. He has developed into an exciting talent after a breakthrough season at Reims, where he was second in the Golden Boot race with 22 goals and two assists. Balogun is a clinical striker who does not miss many chances and will aim to increase his tally for the national team, having scored just three goals in 12 appearances.

LW: Christian Pulisic

Christian Pulisic is among the record cap holders for the national team, with over 68 appearances and 29 goals. He had an incredible campaign with AC Milan and continued his excellent form against Brazil, scoring a remarkable free-kick to tie the score. Pulisic was a menace for the defenders throughout the match. At just 25 years old, he has shown plenty of maturity and will lead the team in the tournament.
