The Portuguese was shown a straight red card for his awful foul
After a furious match in Abu Dhabi on Monday, Al Nassr’s captain Cristiano Ronaldo was shown a red card late in the game, and his team lost 2-1 to Al Hilal, their bitter rivals, in the Saudi Super Cup semifinal.
Four minutes from time, Portugal’s record scorer was issued a straight red card for elbowing an opponent when his team was trailing 2-0 before they managed a late consolation goal. Ronaldo was shown on camera raising his hand in a striking motion as the referee strolled off from the 39-year-old after he was given a red card.
Ronaldo is far more likely to go sans a trophy after moving to Saudi Arabia at the start of 2023 due to his big-money move, as indicated by the Super Cup exit. With seven matches remaining in the season, Al Nassr are currently 12 points behind leader Al Hilal and have been eliminated from both the domestic cup and the Asian Champions League.
After a brief interval, Salem Al-Dawsari scored Jorge Jesus’ Al Hilal’s first goal in the 62nd minute, sending the ball into the bottom right corner off a flick from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.After Michael’s deep ball via the right found his colleague unguarded in the heart of the box, Malcom, a striker from Brazil, extended the advantage in the 72nd minute with a beautiful header.
