Argentina will face Algeria, Austria and Jordan in the group stage.

Lionel Messi has once again been included in the final squad to represent Argentina on the world stage. This will be the sixth time that the 38-year-old is going to compete at the grandest stage of football.

The Argentina national football team will be coming in to defend their crown. They do have some young guns in their squad and with the experienced players, La Albiceleste will surely be a tough challenge for their opponents.

For now, seven Argentine stars are not yet fully fit, but in the coming days, they are most likely to return to action. The Lionel Scaloni-led side are all set to take on Honduras and Iceland in friendlies ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026. With some main players missing from the lineup, their preparation can face some issues here.

Agustín Giay and Nicolás Capaldo are travelling with the Argentine contingent for the upcoming friendlies.

Lionel Messi arrives in Kansas

The 38-year-old has now landed in Kansas City alongside Rodrigo De Paul and is set to join Argentina’s training camp ahead of the FIFA World Cup. As reported earlier, Lionel Messi is currently dealing with a minor injury and is set to miss the friendly against Honduras.

His participation in the international friendly against Iceland is not yet confirmed, but Messi is going to compete in Argentina’s opening game against Algeria, which is set to take place on June 16.

The upcoming edition of FIFA’s flagship tournament is all set to take place in Canada, Mexico and the USA. The start date is currently scheduled as June 11. The final of the mega competition will be witnessed at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, United States of America, on July 19.
