The Argentine was ruled out of the last few matches with an injury.
Inter Miami have been handed a major boost going into their next fixture after Lionel Messi was pictured training with the group ahead of their next game against LA Galaxy.
The Argentine suffered an injury in their Leagues Cup match against Necaxa, and Inter Miami revealed that the forward has sustained a muscle injury to his right leg, and his recovery will determine his return.
Messi missed Herons’ last two games, a 3-1 win over Pumas UNAM, followed by a 4-1 defeat against Orlando City. But the player was pictured training with the other players, signalling that he could feature in their next match.
However, new signing Rodrigo De Paul was absent from the training, and now it remains to be seen if the midfielder is ruled out for the game due to injury or other reasons.
Inter Miami hopes to manage Messi’s game time
The 38-year-old has been in stupendous form this season, scoring 18 goals in the league and providing seven assists. However, Miami’s head coach, Javier Mascherano, has earlier commented that the club will manage Lionel Messi’s game time to avoid overloading the player.
Meanwhile, their defeat against Orlando City was a big setback as they are now sixth in the league and nine points adrift of first-place Philadelphia.
Messi’s absence was heavily felt, and the Herons failed to control the game and were thrashed badly, which resulted in dropping points ahead of the crucial period of the season. But the Argentine star has now returned to tream training.
Mascherano’s side can only wait for the former Barcelona man to return to the starting lineup as quickly as possible, as they hope to climb the table in an attempt to defend the MLS Supporters’ Shield.
Messi, meanwhile, will look to continue his fine form in the MLS this season as the player continues to illustrate his brilliance on the field for the club.
