Harry Maguire came close to leaving Manchester United last summer window

The manager of West Ham, David Moyes, intends to make another attempt in the summer to sign England and Manchester United centre-half Harry Maguire.

After noticing his Hammers roster is lacking in headers, Moyes is eager to add a defender to the team. And months after initially attempting to sign him from Old Trafford, the Scot is returning to Maguire as the perfect candidate to fill the position.

The previous attempt failed because United demanded too much from the 31-year-old, out-of-favour Maguire. Moreover, the centre-back wouldn’t need to take a significant wage cut to increase the likelihood of the move.

The Irons will try again, though, and are hoping that the asking price has come down sufficiently to allow for the signing.

Furthermore, Maguire might be more receptive to a London trade that would prolong his stay in the Premier League because he is getting closer to the conclusion of his expensive contract.Maguire still has a year left at Manchester United, and if the team wanted him to continue, they could extend his contract by another season.

However, Maguire might become available once more in the summer if his sale generates revenue and makes room for certain newcomers. Prior to injury, the £85 million 2019 acquisition fought his way back into the lineup.

However, his real transfer worth is limited to one more window. West Ham might be ready to spend between £15 and £20 million.

Additionally, they may make Maguire an alluring two- or three-year offer. This season, the England defender has made 23 appearances across all competitions and scored twice. After practising on Friday, he might be ready to play in Sunday’s FA Cup match against Liverpool.

However, that remains the situation lately, as Maguire hasn’t played a regular role for Manchester United this year. He is still a member of Gareth Southgate’s England team despite this. The Three Lions manager has chosen the defender for this month’s international friendly against Brazil and Belgium.
