What players & coaches have said ahead of the UCL final between PSG & Inter Milan?

Paris Saint-Germain are eyeing their first-ever Champions League title.

PSG are all set to go head-to-head against Inter Milan in the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League final. The stakes are very high as the winning team will be crowned as the European champions. This contest will be played at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.

Both Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan have battled hard in the previous stages of the UCL this season to get to the final stage of the tournament.

Luis Enrique-led PSG previously came close to winning the Champions League back during the 2019-20 season, but they fell prey to Bayern Munich in the final. This season they have performed well and already have a couple of silverware to their name in terms of Ligue 1 and Coupe de France (French Cup).

Inter Milan have already blown a couple of chances to win some silverware this season. They lost the Serie A title to Napoli and the Italian Super Cup against AC Milan. But they are coming in after defeating Barcelona in the previous round of the UCL, which will surely give them confidence to stand a chance against PSG.

What PSG players and the coach said before the UCL final?

Marquinhos

The captain and one of the top defenders of Paris Saint-Germain, Marquinhos is also gearing up for the special day. The Brazilian defender recently mentioned that he is happy with PSG.

Ligue 1 giants will now face Internazionale in the UCL final, to which Marquinhos said, “There have been great times, difficult times, but we have a glorious opportunity to do something remarkable and historic for this club. This is my second time in the UCL final, for which I am not going down without a fight and we will come up with the performance of a lifetime.”

Ousmane Dembele

The Frenchman is the top scorer for Paris Saint-Germain this season. He is also one of the favourites to win the Ballon d’Or for his performances this season. Ousmane Dembele is going to play an important role in the attacking front for PSG.

Reacting before the Champions League final, Dembele mentioned PSG doing well in the post-Mbappe era. About the final, the French forward said, “The idea is to prepare for any type of match that may happen. It’s a final where the result determines the attitude of both teams. I think we’re better able to handle that. That’s what we’re preparing for. We’re going to try to take the game to the aspects of the game that I consider to be the best.”

Luis Enrique

The head coach of Paris Saint-Germain is now looking to win his second UEFA Champions League trophy of his career. Luis Enrique won his first decade ago while leading Barcelona to glory in 2015.

Luis Enrique wants “to make history in Paris” by winning the UCL title. The Spanish coach also said, “Dembele has been one of the best players, if not the best of the season,” and added that tonight they will try to take possession away from Inter to leverage their strengths.

What Inter Milan players and the coach said before the UCL final?

Lautaro Martinez

Leading Inter Milan from the front, Lautaro Martinez is yet again the top goal-getter of Internazionale this season. For the Argentine forward, it is a “huge dream” to get to the UCL final, and the Serie A giants now need personality and courage to win it.

Lautaro Martinez said that, “We now have that spirit in Inter, this is what it will take to win the UCL final.”

Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has won the Europa League and the Conference League titles but is yet to win the UEFA Champions League trophy in his collection. He has performed well for Inter this season and will be looking to come up with a similar performance yet again.

As for the final, Mkhitaryan said, “It would mean everything to win. I’ve been fortunate to play in many finals, but this one could complete the set. We’re focused, united, and ready for the fight. We’ve worked hard for this. To win all three European titles would be something historic for me.”

Simone Inzaghi

The Italian football manager, Simone Inzaghi, previously had an opportunity to win the Champions League title when Inter Milan took on Manchester City in the 2022-23 season. The Serie A side lost the final 0-1.

Simone Inzaghi “believes” in his players. He has acknowledged the high-level competition and the intensity of the European tournament. He said, “The top efforts by the players have helped them reach the final.”

As per the Italian manager, they need concentration, not obsession to win the Champions League title.
