Messi-led Herons will now prepare for next season.

Lionel Messi and Co. will start the new season with a new manager and their pre-season matches have already been unveiled.

After a season that broke all previous records in Major League Soccer, Inter Miami launched their 2025 Americas Preseason Tour.

From January 18 to February 14, the Herons will play five games across North, South, and Central America. The games will take place in Peru, Panama, and Honduras overseas, as well as in Tampa and Las Vegas locally.

After Inter Miami were eliminated from the 2024 Major League Soccer playoffs at Chase Stadium, Lionel Messi promised to “come back stronger” in 2025.

Goals from Jamal Thiaré and Bartosz Slisz ended Miami’s record campaign as the Herons lost 3-2 to Atlanta United FC in the best-of-three playoff series.

Regardless, the Argentine attacker helped Inter Miami win the 2024 Supporters’ Shield and set the league mark for most points in a single season. He also finished his regular-season campaign with 20 goals and 16 assists in just 19 matches.

When will Lionel Messi return to action for Inter Miami?

Since his present deal with Inter Miami expires in 2025, it is anticipated that he will return for the upcoming season and play on the Herons preseason tour under new coach Javier Mascherano.

The team will compete in the Leagues Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, and CONCACAF Champions Cup in addition to the regular MLS season.

After winning the Supporters’ Shield, FIFA gave Inter Miami the final CONCACAF spot in the tournament, joining the Seattle Sounders, another MLS team. CONCACAF teams were also invited to the tournament because the Club World Cup will be held in the United States.

Lionel Messi is going to have a packed season with plenty of matches. Unlike last season he missed many games due to injuries, he will hope that he remains fit throughout the next campaign.
