The Magpies were on a title drought for quite a while.

Newcastle United are one of the known teams in English Football. But despite having a decent squad, they had failed to win many titles in the last few years. They have not been the most consistent teams. The Magpies even failed to secure a Champions League spot last season. This season they might be able to secure one if they keep their winning run going.

Newcastle United have not been able to lift any trophies in recent times. However, they finally ended the drought which has been in place for more than 70 years since the Magpies won a major title. Newcastle United last lifted a major title just today. It was in the EFL Cup showdown against Liverpool. Previously they had achieved notable recognition in 1969 when they won the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup. The Magpies did win the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2006 but it is not considered a major title. They have never come close to winning the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League title.

As far as the English Premier League is concerned, Newcastle United have never emerged victorious in the league. The Magpies have finally been able to bag their first EFL Cup/Carabao Cup title. But when it comes to the FA Cup, Newcastle United have won the oldest club cup competition six times after reaching the final 13 times.

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle took on Liverpool in the Carabao Cup 2024-25 final. They took their chances and grabbed their first-ever EFL Cup title by winning 1-2 at the Wembley stadium. It was never going to be an easy affair for them but they did have a capable lineup to begin with. Finally, their calibre helped them outshine Liverpool. The Magpies can’t really win the Premier League title this season but they do have a chance to secure a Champions League spot for the coming season.
