Kaishu Sano scored in the 29th minute to put the Samurai Blue ahead in tonight’s match.

Japan took on Brazil in a feisty Round of 32 clash in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, on June 29. The Samurai Blue took a shock lead against their five-time champion opponents, courtesy of a fine goal by Kaishu Sano before the half-hour mark.

After soaking up intense pressure from the Selecao, the Asian giants found their breakthrough moment in the 29th minute. It came from a defensive error, with Danilo giving away the ball cheaply in the middle of the pitch.

Sano took the ball and made a darting run towards the opposition’s penalty area, completely overpowering Casemiro. He pulled the trigger from 20 yards away, and his powerful low effort beat the reach of Alisson Becker and found the bottom corner.

The Japanese fans started celebrating wildly after the goal, which put the Samurai Blue up front against one of the tournament favourites.
