The 25-year-old scored a goal against the Dutch.

In the opening game of Group F in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Netherlands national football team battled it out against the Japan national football team.

It was a tough battle at the Dallas Stadium. Neither of the nations was looking to back down until the very end.

The Ronald Koeman-led side broke the deadlock after Virgil van Dijk scored a goal in the 51st minute. The Netherlands are lacking quality in their performance in the final third and they must work on it before proceeding to the further stages of the FIFA World Cup 2026.

The Japan national football team were quick to equalise. The 25-year-old Keito Nakamura found the back of the net and helped the Samurai Blue to make the scoreline 1-1. They weren’t able to keep things level for long as the Dutch made it 2-1 in the 64th minute. In the final moments of the game, Daichi Kamada scored the equaliser to make the scoreline 2-2 and helped Japan secure a draw.

Keito Nakamura can play an important role on the left flank for Japan in the rest of the tournament.
