Kerim Alajbegović was born on September 21, 2007. He is currently considered one of the most exciting young talents in Bosnian football. He was born in Cologne, Germany, but opted to represent Bosnia & Herzegovina in international football.
He was eligible to play for Germany as well, but selected to play for the Dragons. Kerim Alajbegović progressed through U15, U17, U19 and U21. He made his senior debut for his national team in September 2025 and scored against San Marino.
He is now playing at the FIFA World Cup 2026 for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team. Alajbegović has scored his maiden goal at the world stage and has helped his side take an early lead.
Kerim Alajbegović started his youth career with FC Köln. He spent eight years from 2013 to 2021 there. He then made a move to the youth side of Bayer Leverkusen. He became a key player for the squad in the under-19 setup. His performances on the field were quite eye-catching.
He scored 10 goals in 21 matches as a left-winger for the U19 team and also trained under Xabi Alonso for the first team. In January 2025, he joined the first team and then in July 2025, Kerim Alajbegović joined Red Bull Salzburg. His impressive development was enough to convince Bayer Leverkusen to activate the buy-back clause for the 2026-27 season.
