Michal Sadilek scored after 5 minutes and 8 seconds in the match against South Africa.

Czechia took an early lead in their FIFA World Cup 2026 Group A match against South Africa at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The Narod’ak went ahead inside six minutes when midfielder Sadilek found the back of the net at the end of a swift move.

Adam Hlozek chased down a long throw on the right flank, and the Hoffenheim forward played a terrific cutback into the middle of the South African penalty area. Bafana Bafana’s defence was completely out of place. Sadilek exchanged a one-two with Alexandr Sojka before firing a powerful effort past Ronwen Williams into the bottom corner.

This put the Czechs ahead against a toothless South African side and left them in a favourable position following a 2-1 loss to South Korea in their opener.
