The Three Lions take on New Zealand and Costa Rica in friendlies ahead of the mega competition.
After Thomas Tuchel announced England’s final 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, many fans looked unhappy on social media platforms. Noni Madueke was picked over Jarrod Bowen.
The Three Lions are placed in Group L along with the likes of Croatia, Ghana and Panama. It will be interesting to see their performances with a star-studded lineup. They are also one of the favourites to win FIFA’s flagship tournament.
The England national football team have won the World Cup once, back in 1966. Thomas Tuchel is ready to lead the side. He has come up with the final names for the squad.
Names like Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford and others. Meanwhile, other big stars like Phil Foden, Harry Maguire, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Cole Palmer have been left out.
Before getting to the biggest stage of them all, Tuchel’s men are going to battle it out against New Zealand and Costa Rica. They will only be looking to build some positive momentum using those friendlies.

Why did Jarrod Bowen miss out?

England’s head coach has called up Arsenal’s Noni Madueke to represent the Three Lions at the FIFA World Cup 2026 instead of West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen.
While answering about making his choice, Thomas Tuchel said, “You mention Jarrod. Jarrod was the one of the players under the radar maybe, but he was just excellent in every camp for us and then gets the phone call that he’s not on the plane.”
“Does Jarrod suffer a bit from the situation at his club? It’s difficult for him. Does Noni (Madueke) and Bukayo benefit from the situation at their club that play in finals, they bagged the Premier League title, they play in a Champions League final.”
There is a chance that West Ham United are likely to be relegated at the end of the 2025-26 season. On the other hand, Noni Madueke’s Arsenal have secured the Premier League title.
Further talking about Jarrod Bowen, Tuchel mentioned, “Without telling too much, the reaction of Jarrod was just outstanding. It proved again what kind of character he is, how much he buys into the team spirit, even if it was a difficult one and a disappointing message for him.”
