Messi’s famous bodyguard won’t be allowed to enter the fields of the Leagues Cup games.

According to reports, Lionel Messi’s bodyguard is suspended for the rest of the Leagues Cup due to an incident that occurred during Inter Miami’s match against Atlas.

An individual related to Inter Miami’s club has been suspended from technical duties for the duration of the Leagues Cup, according to the disciplinary committee’s announcement. ESPN reports that the person is Yassine Cheuko, Messi‘s longtime security personnel, and he has been suspended.

Following Wednesday’s game, Cheuko was spotted coming onto the field to separate the two squads. Matehus Doria of Atlas addressed the issue after the game.

“I understand Messi’s bodyguard is there to protect him from a potential pitch invader. I get that, but between players, he doesn’t have that permission,” said Atlas defender Dória at the final whistle.

The reason for the ruling was provided by the Leagues Cup disciplinary committee.

“After the July 30 Inter Miami CF vs. Club Atlas match, a member of Inter Miami’s club delegation displayed improper conduct by entering restricted areas without an official event credential

“In accordance with the Leagues Cup 2025 Tournament Regulations, the Disciplinary Committee has suspended the individual involved from all technical areas for the remainder of Leagues Cup 2025 and issued an undisclosed fine to Inter Miami CF.”

Since working with Messi during his tenure at Paris Saint-Germain, the bodyguard has become a member of the Argentine’s inner circle. Cheuko has become somewhat of a superstar in his own right since Messi moved to Inter Miami.

However, there has been some controversy surrounding his work. In April, Cheuko disclosed that he was even prohibited from watching Inter Miami games from the sidelines.
