The event is going to take place on 28 October in Paris.

The Ballon d’Or ceremony is about to take place which will honour the top football players, managers and teams for their incredible contribution over the past year. There is a huge amount of hype around the 2024 ceremony that will take place at the Paris’s Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, France.

There is a lot of discussion around Cristiano Ronaldo’s involvement in the upcoming 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony. The Portuguese superstar is one of the biggest legends of the game and currently mesmerizes the crowds in Saudi Arabia playing for Al Nassr FC in the Saudi Pro League.

According to reports, Cristiano Ronaldo is likely not to attend the 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony. The five-time winner of the highly prestigious award is not amongst the nominees for the 2024 Men’s Ballon d’Or title. In fact, Lionel Messi, one of the greatest footballers to grace the sport, is also not in the Top 30 list. Interestingly, it is the first time since 2004 that neither Ronaldo nor Messi, who now plays for Inter Miami in the MLS, have made the list of nominees. Ronaldo also recently missed a Saudi Pro League match against Al Kholood.

Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are likely to skip the 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony. The former has won the award five times, only to trail the latter who has won it a record eight times.

Since Lionel Messi is not going to defend his Ballon d’Or title after winning the award by guiding Argentina to the 2022 FIFA World Cup title, several candidates have emerged as favourites. Apparently, Vinicius Jr is one of the favourites to win the award due to his role in helping Real Madrid win the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League and LaLiga.

Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Rodri are also major shouts for the award. England’s Jude Bellingham, who is Vinicius Jr’s teammate at Real Madrid is also one of the nominees for the Men’s Ballon d’Or.
