The 2026 FIFA World Cup is currently underway with the final round of its group stage fixtures, producing moments that will be cherished forever. France are set to play against Norway, one of the most anticipated World Cup matchups at Boston Stadium in Massachusetts, USA.
France and Norway are set to battle in one of Europe’s most competitive fixtures, with both nations playing sixteen times before the game. This will also be the first-ever World Cup meeting between both sides. Both nations have confirmed their qualification to the next round, with the fixture serving the purpose of determining the table toppers.
Didier Deschamps updates on Kylian Mbappé’s role against Norway

Didier Deschamps has confirmed that Kylian Mbappé is fully cleared and highly likely to start against Norway, unless the manager decides to rotate his lineup to ensure match fitness. His availability was initially doubted, with Kylian Mbappé kept out of the starting lineup in France’s pre-World Cup friendlies as he was recovering from his left thigh injury.
In late April 2026, concerns were raised after Mbappé clutched his legs and requested an immediate substitution in Real Madrid’s LaLiga fixture against Real Betis. He was then subjected to a complete medical examination to assess his condition.
Official tests have confirmed an injury to the semitendinosus muscle in his left hamstring, raising massive concerns about keeping the player ready in time for the World Cup. To ensure his availability, the French Football Federation (FFF) medical director, Dr Franck Le Gall, collaborated directly with Real Madrid’s physiotherapists to design a quick recovery program.

After intense rehabilitation programs, he was restricted to playing in France’s pre-World Cup friendlies against Colombia and Brazil, appearing only for brief, low-risk 20-minute cameos to test his explosive acceleration.
All the team’s efforts paid off, with Mbappé starting in both France’s opening group stage fixtures against Senegal and Iraq, scoring a brace in both games, cementing his status as the most crucial element for the nation as they target their third World Cup title.
