The other game’s result was a 3-0 defeat. In the middle of those two MLS fixtures, Messi and Co. did enjoy a 5-1 victory against New York Red Bulls. That game saw a brace from Messi, another brace from Telasco Segovia and a solo effort on net from former FC Barcelona player Jordi Alba.

In the Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference table, we can find the Herons in fifth spot. They have so far accumulated 42 points after playing 22 regular-season games. That’s almost two points in every MLS game.

Argentina international Messi is the leading scorer for the club this season. He is now on 18 goals and is tied with a former Premier League player, Sam Surridge, in the league’s top scorer charts. Surridge currently plays for MLS outfit Nashville SC.

Messi was seen in the latest team training and was very cheerful. We see no reason why he won’t play in the club’s opening Leagues Cup 2025 game.
