Will Lionel Messi play tonight for Inter Miami vs Palmeiras in FIFA Club World Cup 2025?

The Argentine scored the winning goal in their last match against Porto.
When Inter Miami and Palmeiras square off in tonight’s Club World Cup match at Hard Rock Stadium, both teams will be hoping to qualify for the round of 16.
In their second group match in Atlanta, the Herons stunned Portuguese powerhouse Porto after playing to a goalless draw with Al Ahly.
Before Lionel Messi’s incredible free kick in the 57th minute gave his team a crucial lead, Telasco Segovia scored in the first few minutes of the second half to cancel out Samu Aghehowa’s opening goal.
At Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Messi’s 50th goal while wearing an Inter Miami shirt ended up being the difference, extending their winning streak to five games since their May 19’s 3-0 loss to Orlando City (W3, D2).
Javier Mascherano’s team knows that a win would send them to the round of sixteen as group winners, while a point would be sufficient to guarantee second place going into matchday three.
As long as Al Ahly don’t defeat Porto in the other group match and reverse the goal differential between the two teams, the MLS team will finish in second place in Group A even if they lose.
Will Lionel Messi play tonight in FIFA Club World Cup 2025?
Yes, Lionel Messi should be in the starting lineup and play tonight as the Herons look to make it out of Group A and book their place in the knockout stage. Inter Miami have defied the odds in their Club World Cup, as least expectations were placed on them to win any matches given their group consists of some top clubs such as Porto and Palmeiras.
However, when you have Messi, he can make things happen, and once again the Argentine showed why he is the greatest of all time with that magnificent free-kick that saw them edge Porto 2-1 and increase their chances of reaching the round of 16.
Messi will try to do his usual magic one more time tonight as Inter Miami looks to wrap up the job and secure a spot in the next round.
