The Brazilian recently suffered another injury setback despite returning from the long-term ailment.
When Neymar Jr finally returned to competitive football in October 2024 for Saudi side Al Hilal, Brazil supporters had cause for celebration.
The 32-year-old missed most of Al Hilal’s treble-winning season in Saudi Arabia and the 2024 Copa America, which was hosted in the United States, due to a significant knee injury he sustained during a World Cup qualifier against Uruguay.
Although his playing time is being carefully controlled, Neymar is back for his club side. There was conjecture that he would be called up to the Brazil lineup as early as November. But when Dorival Junior announced his squad for the international window, Neymar was not included.
But the forward has once again suffered a setback despite his return after he suffered a hamstring injury in the Al-Hilal AFC Champions League Elite game.
Will Neymar feature in the November international break?
Neymar was not expected to be part of Dorival’s squad this month, despite the fact that he was back to match condition before suffering another injury. As it turned out, he wasn’t on the list when the team was announced.
The rationale is that before the player resumes national team action, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) wants to see him reach his optimum form and condition with his current club.
But with his recent setback after sustaining a hamstring injury, the forward will hope to make it for the next international break and will aim to return to action before the end of this year.
The former Barcelona player is expected to return to the Selecao squad for Brazil’s March 2025 international break, which includes matches against Argentina and Colombia.
As the forward attempts to restore his peak form and physical conditioning, rumours surfaced about Neymar’s possible inclusion in the Brazil squad for this month’s World Cup qualifiers. But in the end, manager Dorival decided not to include the former Barcelona star this month, expressing caution and consideration for his continued recuperation.
