William Saliba does things that I don't like so much, France coach Didier Deschamps

William Saliba’s prospects of making France’s Euro 2024 squad look doubtful now
Recent comments made by Didier Deschamps on William Saliba, an Arsenal star, imply that the France manager does not see the centre-back starting at Euro 2024.
Three years after joining the Gunners, in 2022, Saliba made his competitive debut and quickly distinguished himself as a single of the continent’s top young defenders. Since Mikel Arteta’s team has allowed just 24 goals this season, his partnership with Gabriel of Arsenal has grown to become the most formidable central defensive combination in the Premier League.
With ten games remaining, Saliba plays a major role in the North Londoners’ present position atop the league. He also helps the team advance to the last eight of the Champions League, where they will play Bayern Munich in two legs next month. Many believe that Arsenal’s loss of the title came from the 23-year-old’s injury sustained the previous season.Having said that, it seems like Deschamps isn’t as crazy about the defence. Saliba hasn’t had a string of outstanding performances for his country despite his heroics with Arsenal, and the boss is still dubious about the former Saint-Etienne player.

In recent weeks, Dayot Upamecano, Ibrahima Konate, and Benjamin Pavard have all been used ahead of Saliba; the Arsenal star has only started two of France’s previous eighteen games. During Germany’s 2-0 victory on Saturday, he did not even get off the bench. The time is running out for Saliba to make an impression on the squad for the big tournament as Euro 2024 draws nearer. It’s no secret that Deschamps still has some reservations about certain aspects of Saliba’s style of play.
“He is having a good season, but he also does things that I don’t like so much,” Deschamps told reporters on Monday. “For France, he has limited game time, but when he plays, that hasn’t necessarily gone well.
The hierarchy doesn’t favour him at the moment, but he is here. Dayot Upamecano has had game time and perhaps William has had less. With certain players, I make sure to persevere, because it can be confidence or little blockages that can shift.
