Renowned football players will have a big role to play for their nations at the Paris Olympics.

Many of the top players from the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia, which created a global sensation less than a year ago, will return; this time to Paris Olympics in 2024, which will serve as the global football hub, with 12 teams vying for the gold medal.

World champions Spain are one of the favourites to win, even though they will be competing in their first Olympics in the French city, while the United States, who have always been dominant, will be seeking vengeance for their worst-ever World Cup performance.

Many big stars will be in the spotlight to make an impression on their respective nations and in the below article we take five women’s stars to light up the Women’s football team.

5. Marta (Brazil)

Most people agree that Marta Vieira da Silva, better known simply as Marta, is the best female football player in history. Having won six FIFA Player of the Year titles, her reputation speaks for itself.

During Marta’s stellar career, Brazil won silver medals in the Olympics in 2004 and 2008, and she had a big impact at the 2007 World Cup. Marta is an exceptional player to watch because she owns the record for the most goals recorded in women’s World Cups, even though Brazil haven’t won any big international trophies.

4. Racheal Kundananji (Zambia)

On the pitch, Racheal Kundananji is a formidable opponent. the 38-year-old has won eight of the nine Copa Americas since 1991.

Kundananji recently signed for a hefty $788,00 transfer from Spanish side Madrid CFF to the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) expansion team Bay FC. Her expertise and ability will be very important to Zambia if they want to succeed at the Olympics.

Horan, who played for the Portland Thorns in the NWSL for seven years before moving back to France to play for Lyon, will be crucial to the United State’s chances of winning another Olympic medal.

2. Aitana Bonmati (Spain)

Aitana Bonmati has been performing incredibly well; she was just declared the 2023 Ballon d’Or winner. Her spectacular exploits enabled Spain to defeat England 1-0 and win the 2023 World Cup in Australia.

As the best player in the competition, Bonmati received the Golden Ball award in recognition of her role in her team’s victory. Her ability to play in the middle and her vision makes her a vital member of Spain’s squad for the 2024 Olympics.

1. Alexia Putellas (Spain)

With no outside distractions, Spain are poised to make history by becoming the first team to win both the Olympic Gold Medal and the World Cup. Alexia Putellas, who has been instrumental in leading LA Roja, will be joining Bonmati in hoping to guide Spain to the Gold Medal.
