Top five footballers to watch out for at Paris Olympics 2024
Many stars will be aiming to lead their nations to the gold medal
Paris Olympics 2024 is almost upon us and there will be plenty of football national teams looking to win the gold medal as last time Brazil won successive gold in football at Tokyo 2020, beating Spain in the final.
However, this will be different with Argentina who are looking like the favourites heading into the competition. With many young and seasoned players participating in the competition, this time the Olympics will witness many stars hoping to aid their side deep into the tournament.
In this article, we take a look at the top five best footballers to watch out for at the Paris Olympics 2024
5. Jean-Philippe Mateta
With Olise also named in the French squad, both stars will be looking to connect through their Premier League days together for the national team.
Mateta, who came to Palace in 2022 from the French club Mainz, is a former junior representative for France. However, he has not yet made an appearance for the senior team.
Since making the permanent move to Selhurst Park, the 27-year-old, who was also allied to the Democratic Republic of the Congo before becoming a French citizen has amassed an amazing 22 Premier League goals in 41 games so far for Palace.

4. Nicolas Otamendi
Nicolas Otamendi has been Argentina’s most important figure ever since he made his national team debut the 36-year-old was decisive in Argentina winning the 2021 Copa America and 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Otamendi will be valuable for Argentina’s defence in the Olympics the former Manchester City defender will add a greater amount of experience at the back and will hope to spearhead the South American giants to their first-ever gold medal since 2008.
3. Achraf Hakimi
Achraf Hakimi, star right-back for PSG and Morocco national football team is also called up for the ucpoming Olympics 2024.
The defender made history by assisting the Atlas Lions to get to the semifinals of the global competition and securing a spot in the last four of the Qatar World Cup 2022. Morocco were one of the surprising teams in the tournament reaching the last four and will hope to make another statement in the Olympics this time.
At the age of 25, Hakimi has by now had a remarkable club career, after starting his career at Real Madrid Academy, he now stars for Ligue 1 side PSG.
2. Michael Olise
The 22-year-old attacker was initially discovered by Arsenal at the age of nine while he was living in London, England.
After that, Olise spent the next eight years in the youth systems of Manchester City, Chelsea, and the Gunners until Reading, who played in the second division of English football at the time, made him an offer for his first professional deal. Olise has impressed in both the EFL Championship and in the Premier League since then.
The right-winger has now moved to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich from Crystal Place in the ongoing transfer window,

1. Julian Alvarez
The star player of the tournament is without a doubt Alvarez, a forward for Manchester City.
The 24-year-old was on a roll for Pep Guardiola’s team the previous season, helping them clinch a record-setting fourth straight Premier League title.
All of it followed the Cityzens’ five-title haul in 2023, during Alvarez’s debut season, which included winning the FIFA Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, and the league’s third crown. He also played a key role in Argentina‘s FIFA World Cup triumph in 2022 and Copa America triumph in 2024.
