Albert Park has been hosting Grand Prix since 1996.

Australia is home to some of the best sportspersons, arenas, and events in the world. The country has been part of Formula 1 (F1) traditions since 1985. However, it wasn't until 1996 that the Australian GP went to Melbourne's Albert Park. Before that, it was held in the Adelaide Street Circuit.

In June last year, Melbourne's contract to host the Australian Grand Prix (Australian GP) was extended until 2035. The new contract stipulates that the event will be one of the first three races in the calendar - with a minimum of five being the opening race of the season. From this year onwards, Formula 2 and Formula 3 will also form part of the weekend schedule.

In the 25 Grand Prix held at Albert Park, nine of them have been won by Ferrari drivers, by five different drivers - Eddie Irvine, Michael Schumacher, Kimi Räikkönen, Sebastian Vettel, and Charles Leclerc. Mercedes also have some fond memories of the track, both as the team and engine supplier.
