As the Formula 1 caravan makes its way from Bahrain to Saudi Arabia for the second race weekend of the season, all eyes are on the weather forecast for the upcoming Saudi Arabian GP in Jeddah. After the unseasonably cool and gusty conditions experienced in Bahrain, what atmospheric conditions can the drivers and teams expect to encounter on the Jeddah Corniche Circuit?
Warmth Welcomes the F1 Circus at Saudi Arabian GP
First and foremost, it’s evident that the climate in Jeddah is significantly warmer compared to Bahrain. The stiff breeze that permeated the Bahraini air has been replaced by much warmer temperatures, posing a new challenge for the teams and drivers as they unpack and prepare their equipment for the race weekend.
Let’s take a closer look at the weather forecast for each day of the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix weekend:
Thursday, March 07 – FP1 and FP2:
- Sunny skies and dry conditions are expected throughout the day, with a moderate northwesterly seabreeze in the afternoon. Temperatures are forecasted to reach a maximum of 29°C during the day, dropping to a minimum of 22°C in the evening. There’s a 0% chance of rain.
Friday, March 08 – FP3 and Qualifying:
- Similar conditions are anticipated, with sunny and dry weather prevailing. The northwesterly seabreeze will persist in the afternoon but is expected to decrease around sunset. Temperatures will peak at around 28°C during the day, with a low of 22°C in the evening. Again, there’s no chance of rain.
Saturday, March 09 – Race Day:
- The race day forecast mirrors the previous days, remaining sunny and dry. The northwesterly seabreeze will continue, easing down during the race. Race-time temperatures are expected to range from 25°C to 24°C, ensuring optimal racing conditions. Once more, the chance of rain remains at 0%.

Red Bull’s Cooling System Faces a Test
Red Bull Racing’s RB20 car features an advanced cooling system designed to optimize performance while managing heat dissipation. As temperatures soar in Jeddah for the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the effectiveness of Red Bull’s cooling technology faces a rigorous test. With daytime temperatures expected to reach 31°C, the team must carefully balance cooling efficiency with aerodynamic performance to ensure reliability on the track.
While dry weather is forecasted throughout the F1 action in Jeddah, the temperatures are set to soar during the day, reaching up to 31°C. However, the race itself takes place at night, providing some relief from the scorching daytime heat. Despite nighttime temperatures dipping to around 24°C, the lingering humidity prolongs the warmth well into the evening hours.
