The new F1 season is nearly underway!
The new season of Formula 1 (F1) is around the corner, and this time, they’ll be kicking off with the Australian Grand Prix as their season opener. With Melbourne being the first destination on the calendar, we’ll get to see the all-new grid racing at Albert Park this weekend.
Since 2019, this year will be the first time the F1 circus will open at the Australian GP and not Bahrain.
While coming back to the race stats, considering where we left off last season, this season is going to be nothing but a fiercer and even more drama-packed season. Especially after looking at some glimpses from the pre-season testing with all new cars on the same track.
Piastro to carry home race hopes
Looking back in time, the Australian drivers haven’t had much luck on their home turf competing with the other drivers. Since the introduction of the Australian GP to the calendar, there hasn’t been a single time an Australian has taken a spot on the podium.
It’s just Daniel Ricciardo who has been the closest to it in 2014 and did also got a chance to stand on the podium.
Will the odds be in Australians’ favour with Daniel Ricciardo off the grid?
However, let’s not forget Jack Doohan from Alpine and Oscar Piastri from McLaren will also be seen racing on their home ground. But it seems like Piastri is the one carrying the home race hopes.
With competitive performance in the previous season, as well as the pre-season testing, Piastri has come out to be the most favourite win for this race.
