Max Verstappen won the Japanese GP last weekend
After a thrilling race at Suzuka, Formula 1 (F1) heads for the deserts to Sakhir for the 2025 Bahrain Grand Prix. This is going to be the first night race of the season.
The Bahrain Grand Prix has hosted the F1 season-opener from 2021 to 2024, but it was moved down to the fourth race due to Ramadan.
With the lights on, the engines roaring and the title race heating up, let’s have a look at everything you need to know before you watch the 2025 F1 Bahrain GP.
How does the season look so far?
Max Verstappen enters the weekend with full confidence after completely dominating the Japanese Grand Prix. The win has cut Lando Norris’ lead in the championship down to just one point. But McLaren is likely to hit back considering their strong performance in the pre-season testing.
Mercedes are McLaren’s closest rivals in the Constructors’ standings but are already 36 points behind after just three rounds into the season. Ferrari, on the other hand, haven’t even had the start they were expecting.
Apart from Lewis Hamilton’s sprint win in China, the prancing horse can be seen struggling so far.
What’s the circuit like?
The Bahrain International Circuit made its entry on the F1 calendar for the first time in 2004.
Under an unusually cloudy sky, the track saw a dominating performance by Ferrari. Michael Schumacher had won the first Bahrain GP ahead of teammate Rubens Barrichello. In honor of Schumacher’s victory, turn 1 of the circuit was named after his name.
Set in the Sakhir Desert, the 5.412km long track is known for exciting races and plenty of overtaking. It consists a mix of long straights and challenging corners, making the track a trickier one to handle. Racing at night can make things even harder with dropped temperatures and strong desert winds, affecting the grip.
One of the toughest sections of the race is turn 10, a downhill corner that is very easy to get wrong. On the other hand, Turn 12 offers a fast and flowing section where the drivers really get to push their cars to the limits.
