Max Verstappen won the last edition of the race
The Formula 1 (F1) Bahrain Grand Prix returns in 2025, but with a new spot on the calendar. Traditionally known as the season opener, this year Bahrain will host the fourth race of the season, from 11 April to 13 April. The date was rescheduled due to Ramadan, which happened earlier in this season.
Even though it’s not a season opener anymore, Bahrain remains a fan-favourite thanks to its fast straights, technical corners, and unique setting under the night sky. The track stretches 5.412 km with 57 laps, and ever since 2014, it has been held at night under the lights, also providing cooler racing conditions.
Bahrain first joined the F1 calendar in 2004, when Michael Schumacher won the race, leading a Ferrari 1-2 finish. When it comes to the most wins at the Bahrain International Circuit, Lewis Hamilton tops the list. He leads the winners list with five victories, while Verstappen has taken the top step the past two years, including last year’s win ahead of Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz.
So far in the 2025 season, things are getting exciting. Lando Norris is leading the drivers’ standings by just one point over Verstappeen, and Oscar Piastri right behind them.
McLaren will be hoping to bounce back after Japan, especially since they looked strong at this track during pre-season testing. While Ferrari and Mercedes are still looking to close the gap.
