A few days ago Formula 1 (F1) released the 2025 calendar in celebration of its 75th birthday in 2025. This time F1 will have two consecutive years with 24 races on the calendar.
The 2025 calendar will see some minor changes in the venues and the months of the races. For example, the Bahrain and the Saudi Arabian GP will be held in the month of April because of Ramadan.
All of these changes have been brought in order to have a more sustainable through regionalisation of events. Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of FIA, said “The 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship calendar, approved by the World Motor Sport Council, is a further illustration of our collective mission of meeting sustainability objectives through the regionalisation of events.”
However, the FIA has also tried to implement some of its objectives in the 2024 calendar as well.
The FIA has regionalised some parts of the F1 calendar in an attempt to make the series more sustainable. This involves rescheduling the Japanese Grand Prix from its mid-to-late-season location to April and the Chinese GP following it after two weeks.
What is the next race after the Japanese GP 2024?
For round 5 of the season, F1 will be hosting the next race at the Chinese Grand Prix. Spectators will be witnessing the event for the first time in 5 years after it was cancelled from 2020 to 2023 due to COVID-19.
In addition, this year’s Chinese GP will mark 20 years since its first grand prix in 2004.
The race will take place on the 5.451km Shanghai International Circuit in Shanghai. With a total of 56 laps, drivers will begin in an unusual way with the cars rocketing into the always-tight Turns 1 and 2, then veering left into Turns 3 and 4. Drivers adore the super-high g force Turns 7 and 8.
The circuit features two DRS zones with a 1.2km straight between turns 13-14.
