The anticipation is building as Formula 1 gears up for the next thrilling race after the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix 2024. Following a hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Australian Grand Prix returned to the calendar in 2022, promising another action-packed event at Albert Park in Melbourne.
Known for its challenging semi-street circuit spanning 5.278 kilometres, the Albert Park track presents a formidable test for drivers. With its bumpy surface and constantly evolving grip levels, navigating the twists and turns requires skill and precision. Notably, it stands as one of the fastest layouts on the F1 calendar, with Lewis Hamilton’s pole lap in 2018 clocking an average speed of over 235 kilometres per hour.
Ahead of the 2022 race, several upgrades were made to the circuit, resulting in a slightly shorter layout with 14 turns instead of the previous 16. These modifications promise to add an extra layer of excitement to the competition.

Carlos Sainz’s Potential Return in the Australian GP
One of the key storylines leading up to the race revolves around the potential return of Scuderia Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, who missed the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix due to medical complications.
Ferrari are assessing its options as Sainz recovers from appendicitis, which prevented him from competing in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. The choice of whether to stick with Oliver Bearman, a rookie, or bring back Sainz will affect the dynamics and tactics of the squad.
As Sainz’s condition becomes better, there is growing conjecture about whether he will be ready for the next race in Melbourne.
Homegrown Heroes on Turf: Oscar Piastri and Daniel Ricciardo
At the Australian Grand Prix, Australian drivers Oscar Piastri and Daniel Ricciardo will compete for McLaren and Visa Cash App RB, respectively.
Piastri, a Melbourne native, is regarded as a serious candidate for victory at his home event after achieving several podium finishes.
Ricciardo, on the other hand, is keen to show off his skills behind the wheel and contend for the win on well-known ground. In 2014, he finished second at Albert Park.
Piastri and Ricciardo, two local talents who have garnered a lot of support from Australian fans, represent the nation’s dreams as they try to leave their mark and possibly rewrite history at the storied Albert Park circuit.
