This race-week promises to be one of the electrifying events of the year

The Singapore GP is back, with its reputation for being one of the electrifying events of the F1 calendar! Set against the stunning Marina Bay skyline, this night race is always a fan favourite.

With just seven races left in the season, the stakes are higher than ever. Mclaren’s comeback, Ferrari’s fierce challenge, and Red Bull’s strategic decisions all set the stage for an unforgettable show under the lights.

In this article, we will discuss everything that you need to know about the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix 2024.

Red Bull drops plans for special fan-designed livery

Recently, Red Bull had invited fans to design special liveries for select races, with the first car showcased at the British Grand Prix in July. But the custom livery planned for Singapore would have added 1kg to the RB20 car, resulting in a minor 0.03 second per lap deficit.

So to avoid this delay, Red Bull scrapped the plans to debut a custom livery for the upcoming race.

Although the difference seems small, Red Bull still chose not to risk any drop in performance. This appears to be a safe option as their performance lead has narrowed since Max Verstappen’s last victory in June at the Spanish Grand Prix.

McLaren vs Ferrari

McLaren and Ferrari have been in an intense rivalry lately, each securing victories in the last two races. In Monza, Leclerc used a brilliant one-stop strategy to hold off McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, but in Baku, Piastri turned the tables and overtook Leclerc to win.

With Leclerc’s current form, he is pretty confident that Ferrari is in good shape for the upcoming Singapore GP. Meanwhile, McLaren has also been improving since their upgrades earlier this season and now leads the constructor’s championship.

Last year, Carlos Sainz won the Singapore GP, and this year, we could see another exciting fight between Ferrari and McLaren.

Magnussen returns to Haas

Kevin Magnussen is back in the Haas seat after serving a one-race suspension due to penalty points. He returns to a competitive team, with Nico Hulkenberg nearly securing points in Baku before late race issues.

Magnussen has a solid history in Singapore, with three point-finishes and two fastest laps to his name, but this time he faces a growing challenge from Williams.

But Williams has also been gaining some momentum, with Alex Albon and rookie Franco Colapinto finishing seventh and eighth in Baku. Their upgraded car has performed well on three consecutive tracks, closing the gap to Haas in the constructors’ championship to just 13 points.
