What tyres will the teams & drivers have for F1 2024 Japanese GP?

Formula 1 heads from Australia to Japanese GP for the next round of the season – and Pirelli have confirmed the tyres that will be in play.
F1’s official tyre supplier will bring the C1, C2 and C3 compounds to the iconic Suzuka venue, the hardest from their range, and the same selection used at the opening race of the season in Bahrain.
Drivers will get two sets of the hard tyre (marked white), three sets of the medium tyre (marked yellow), and eight sets of the soft tyre (marked red), as well as the green intermediate tyre and the blue full wets, should they be required.
Pirelli have chosen that hard combination once more despite the Grand Prix being moved from its typical late-season slot in September or October to April, with lower temperatures expected across the weekend.
A two-stopper has been the most common strategy in recent years, due to the energy going through the tyres, but the aforementioned cooler temperatures mean a one-stop strategy could become possible, especially for drivers who are gentle on their tyres.

However, along with the challenge of keeping tyres in their correct operating windows, a one-stopper also decreases the effectiveness of the undercut, which is usually powerful at Suzuka, even with the hard and medium compounds being the preferred race compounds.
Following the Japanese Grand Prix there will be two days of Pirelli tyre testing – on Tuesday April 9 and Wednesday April 10 – with Kick Sauber and RB, to develop constructions and compounds for next season.
