New story drops and parkour updates
On April 30, 2025, Ubisoft revealed the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Year 1 post-launch roadmap. This will have exciting new content from May, June and beyond.
Shadows has become the 2nd best selling title after Valhalla in the franchise and is available to play on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
With the upcoming roadmap, players will get the new free content and gameplay updates and a paid expansion as well.
May 2025: New story drop and parkour overhaul
Starting from May 6, 2025, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will get the first story drop, “The Works of Luis Frois.”
This is a quest that is centred around a Portuguese Jesuit scholar, offering new allies, abilities, and activities that permanently impact the game’s narrative.
Along with this, a Codex Update provides historical depth, while quality-of-life enhancements, such as the horse auto-follow function from the April 8 patch, improve gameplay.
We will also be getting a parkour update later this may, which will bring height-gaining back ejects, re-animated side ejects, and a new Vertical Ledge Jump in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
A photo mode will also be added with filters, stickers, character poses, facial expressions and more.

June 2025: Second story drop and gameplay enhancements
In the month of June, we will get the second free story drop, “New Ally For Your League.” This expands your roster with a new companion.
Also, we will get some additional abilities and world activities as well. This update will also introduce new difficulty settings for stealth and combat.
New gameplay immersion option, an open-world alarm system extending castle mechanics, and a headgear toggle for cutscenes in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Free and paid content throughout year 1
Ubisoft has listened to fans’ feedback and is pretty much determined to provide the ongoing free updates, including New Game+ (with a raised level cap), more story drops, special collaborations (potentially crossovers like past Final Fantasy events), codex updates, Animus Hub content, and new rewards.
On the paid side, the Claws of Awaji addition, which is free for pre-orderers, will come later in 2025, bringing a 10-hour excursion on Awaji Island with new opponents, skills, and a Bo Staff for Naoe. Optional cosmetics will also be available at store drops.
